Stay Safe This 4th of July: Legal Tips from Carabin Law

#CarabinLawDeliveringJusticeforAll

As fireworks light up the sky and families gather for backyard barbecues this 4th of July, Carabin Law is here with a reminder: your safety matters. While this holiday celebrates freedom and independence, it also comes with increased risks—on the roads, around fire, and during public festivities.

Here are some quick tips to help keep your celebration safe and injury-free:

🚗 Drive Defensively—And Soberly

The 4th of July is one of the deadliest days on U.S. roads. If you’re driving, stay alert and avoid distractions. If you’ve been drinking, don’t drive. Use a rideshare app, designate a driver or stay where you are. A DWI can change your life—and someone else’s—forever. If you’re the one that’s injured, know your rights. We’re here to help!

🎇 Handle Fireworks with Caution

If fireworks are legal in your area, only adults should handle them, and never aim them at people, pets or homes. Keep a bucket of water nearby and never relight a dud. Firework injuries send thousands to the ER each year—and some result in lifelong consequences.

🔥 Grill Safely

Keep grills away from anything flammable, and never leave them unattended. Burns and fires are common holiday hazards, and preventable with just a little extra care.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Watch the Kids

Whether you’re at a pool party, park, or family event, always keep an eye on children. Accidents happen in an instant—but so does prevention.

Every year, around this time a year, there is a spike in injuries from firework mishaps, crashes and other holiday injuries.

Common Fourth of July Injuries:

Road accidents

Burns from grills and/or fireworks

Slip and falls

Drowning/pool accidents
