THE INVISIBLE INJURY: RECOGNIZING AND DEALING WITH TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
We know you’re going through a tough time right now. Being involved in a car crash can be incredibly unsettling—it’s not just about the physical impact, but the emotional and mental toll it takes, too. You might be feeling shaken, unsure, or even scared.
Please know it’s perfectly okay to feel this way. Let’s take a moment to focus on something crucial: understanding what might be happening with your body, particularly your head, if you’ve experienced a traumatic brain injury often called TBI.
Recognizing the symptoms early is key, and Carabin Law is here to guide you through each step with care and clarity. Remember, you’re not alone. Together, we will rise above this challenging moment, moving forward towards recovery and strength.
WHAT IS A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY (TBI)?
A Traumatic Brain Injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. Mild TBIs, or concussions, are common in everyday crashes. It’s important to recognize the symptoms so we can take the right steps towards healing.
WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS OF MILD TBI (Concussion)?
Headache- It’s normal to experience headaches after a concussion.
Dizziness or Lightheadedness- Feeling unsteady or dizzy is another common sign.
Nausea or Vomiting- You might feel queasy or even throw up.
Blurred Vision- Things might look a bit fuzzy or out of focus.
Ringing in the Ears (Tinnitus)- You may hear a ringing, buzzing, or other noise in your ears.
Sensitivity to Light or Sound- Bright lights and loud sounds might feel uncomfortable.
Fatigue or Drowsiness- Feeling unusually tired or drowsy is not uncommon.
A Change in Sleep Patterns- This could be sleeping more than usual or having trouble sleeping.

WHAT ARE THE COGNITIVE SYMPTOMS OF TBI (Concussion)?
- Confusion or Disorientation- You might feel confused or find it hard to stay oriented.
- Difficulty Concentrating or Remembering Things- Concentration and memory can be challenging.
- Trouble with Memory, Concentration, Attention, or Thinking- Tasks that require focus or recall may be harder than usual.
- Inability to Remember the Cause of the Injury or Events Before and After- You might struggle to remember the incident and the time surrounding it.
WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?
If you recognize any of these symptoms, it’s important to let your attorneys know and seek medical attention as soon as possible. A healthcare professional can guide you on the right path to recovery. Remember to be patient with yourself—the brain needs time to heal, and every small step forward is progress.
You don’t have to navigate this alone; support is available. When it feels like too much to handle, remember, we’re here for you.
Take care, and remember that brighter days are ahead.
